When I first started my fitness journey my main goal was to lose weight. I had taken my foot off the gas since getting married, and it was time to get in shape before a baby changed my body forever. I didn’t want to be the mum that waves and her bingo wings don’t stop waving. Little did I know that it would be 18 months before I eventually fell pregnant. Conveniently that gave me time to focus on getting in shape.
Before falling pregnant I was in a bit of a dark hole. We had no idea why it wasn’t happening, and having decided not to tell anyone I felt quite alone too. In that time exercise was a distraction and a positive thing to concentrate my mind on.
Luckily, it did happen for us eventually, but now I had built up this strength I didn’t want to lose it. I was in no doubt that I’d carry on through my pregnancy. I was supported by Kirsty, and I trusted her to get my body in gear for birth. I have to say, I whole heartedly believe that the stamina and will power I learnt in training with Kirsty got me through the birth of my baby.
Now, more than 5 years into my journey, my goals have changed. I’m not trying to fit in to a size 8, or find my abs, I’m just working on being strong. In all senses. Stronger to carry all my emotional baggage, stronger to lug my toddler around, stronger to face challenges ahead.
My shift is from a physical goal to something more about my wellbeing. It’s the best money I’ve ever spent on myself! And I think it’s the best example I can be setting for my little girl 💚💪🏻
